More than 10 years ago, Native Instrument's Traktor DJ software shook up the dance music industry. Today, their latest release of Traktor PRO3 isn't just a DJ software - it's an instrument in its own right. With keyboard shortcut support, MIDI mapping for controllers and multiple screens, the ability to filter tracks by BPM and sonic complexity - this is one powerful DJ system. Native Instruments' latest release of their legendary Traktor PRO 3 digital turntable controller is here with over 100 updates alongside new features that are bound to push the boundaries of professional DJs well into the future. When you first launch Traktor Pro 3, the new default layout is pretty much set up for you. It's an amazing piece of software to work with, but this version does take a bit of time to get used to. There are many changes in the layout and workflow that are sure to be met with some resistance from veteran users, but after getting past them - it will not disappoint. Native Instruments has successfully created their own proprietary file format for specifically for use with their DJ software. This is what DJs have been asking for - not necessarily a file type, but rather a system that allows their music files to be read by the software without having to convert them into another format. The workflow with the new Traktor Pro 3 is pretty straight forward. It really does feel like Native Instruments took a huge step with this release, but it still feels very familiar to veteran users who have used the software for years. First off, you can see your song list by simply clicking on any of the instruments and then hitting any key or button and it will show you all of your songs in a list box. You can then easily skip to the next song in that list by pressing any key or button. A complete song will need to be put into your deck from the browser. The new "Browse" button in Traktor Pro 3 allows the user to quickly search through their library for a particular song. In addition they can also use a "Font" category to filter by genre or album. If you have multiple tracks that are all in the same genre, then you can easily find them all in a single track with a drop down menu. While browsing in this manner, tracks that are currently in your deck will show up in a list box on the far right side of the screen. Selecting a track in the browser will bring up all of the controls for that particular track. This is the same layout that you would see on any mixer control surface. For example, if you turn on one of your effects, then all of the associated buttons will also be lit up with that effect selected. The "Play" section is something that DJ's will find very familiar. You can either press record to start recording or play back your current song to get it into the software's library. This makes it extremely easy to get your current song into Traktor Pro 3 if you don't plan on using hardware for this purpose, but at some point you may decide you want to use hardware instead. eccc085e13
